The Old Economy Is Dying--The New Economy Can't Legally Be Born--This Election is All About Jobs
I am an admirer of scientific genius and the future engineering we have long been denied by a legal structure organized for the benefit of politicians and their favored connected people. They tilt the rules in favor of established decaying industries and against new innovative industries--that might hire workers instead of outsource!  It is not just a better future we are being cheated of-- but a tolerable present.

The old economy is partly dying because of the simple changes of time. It is normal for firms to go out of business, normal for products to become obselete, even normal for bureaucracies to grow and make companies uncompetitive and government unresponsive. However, the protected companies like GM just get taxpayer money to grow fresh bureaucratic structure and the new job-creating productive growth is not happening. Old jobs are dying, new jobs are not being born. The reason is that jobs require an ecosystem, a rising sub economy to support them. This is why industries form in clusters. Businesses need suppliers. Suppliers need conducive conditions to form. They are not getting them. And they are not forming. And not hiring because they do not yet exist.

But this new economy cannot--legally---be born, because of the growth of political insiders and crony capitalism in our age.  What has happened is they have tilted the playing field to their liking. They have frozen out change, and competition from new companies that could form, beat them and overturn their tired business models. They have lobbied for laws, even drafted 'model legislation' to make it legally impossible to escape dealing with them. Big corporations have done outrageous things but only because Big Politics have permitted them to get away with it.  I'd like that day to end.

What it comes down to is, there is a big pie in Washington. That pie has been professionally sliced up by experts. How hard it is to unslice that  pie can be seen from the budget negotiations of the summer of 2011 where when trying to cut a 1600 billion deficit they could cut 50-100 billion without affecting the claims of those too powerful to offend.

This is the phenomenon I call a 'mined out economy', familiar to anyone in Chicago, or certain other cities under even more oppressive regimes.  You got a connection? You got an introduction? You maybe can do business.  You got nothing? Hit the street. And that street is mean. Everything is sewed up, pre allocated. The thieves have stolen everything. The pie has been cut up and the pie tin is empty, and worse, the ordinary folk who did the baking-- the taxpayers who pay for everything-- were not given a proportional share. Worse yet, the part of the pie you did get is heavily regulated as to how you can use it till the point when it can hardly be said to be yours anymore.

The only cure for this is two fold: Bake some new pie-- (let the new economy be born) which may take years, and in the mean time kick the professional piecutters away from the table. Elect an outsider--come volunteer for me.

It will take enormous changes to put a lot of people to work-- an upheaval in the way things are done today. Entire sectors of the economy need to be reconstructed from ruin or shrunk from bloated size. The financial sector, for example, has despoiled this country and needs to be shrunk drastically. We need to let the new economy be born, and the new jobs will follow.
